Given the government removed and watered down the tax inventives for the private sector to build buildings, it is hard to respect their economic business growth strategy.
A manufacturer just might bring forward that major investment project knowing the tax savings they are likley to achieve will help pay for it.
Instead they are faced with the current scenario of why bother, limited tax relief given over a longer period than the asset will be used for and a big rates bill the day the factory starts to produce.
I guess that is what happens when a former data entry clerk / shop assistant / researcher is given a job beyond his capabilities.
