ECA’s new president vows to seize sustainability agenda

MD of A Pearson Electrical Contractors takes on the role

The Electrical Contractors Association’s new president Alun Pearson has vowed to seize the sustainability agenda in his new role.

Pearson - who was appointed last month - said he hopes to lead the sector in capitalising on the “wealth of business opportunities” arising from the green agenda.

Pearson is managing director of A Pearson Electrical Contractors.

He added:  “I’m absolutely honoured to take up the mantle as president of the ECA; it’s a real privilege to represent the very best in our sector.

“In my year as president, I will do all that I can to ensure that electrical contractors are seen as leaders in the building services industry by the government, by consumers, by client specifiers and within the wider construction industry.

“As a former apprentice, I am also committed to ensuring the survival of our industry through the steady supply of new recruits and will do all that I can to support apprentice training in our industry.

“Times continue to be tough, but the sustainability agenda presents a wealth of business opportunities for the electrical industry. Ultimately it is electricians who will be responsible for installing the technology that will deliver a low carbon Britain; as such, I will be working with ECA members and the government to ensure that the public recognises our role as the frontline troops in the sustainability drive.”
